Meet the Deckers

Meet the Deckers
We are a blessed family! It started out 3 years ago with the addition of Memphis, our crazy Labradoodle. Then, we added Jules in January 2010. Next, our little man made his appearance in May 2011. What fun times are ahead for us!

5 Months Old

Man, he is just the cutest thing in the world.  My man turned 5 months old October 20th.  As you may have noticed, he is sitting up pretty good.  He loves his feet.  He’s got his two bottom teeth.  He has a smile that will light up the room.  And, he is a chunky monkey.  He can wear 9 months clothes really well – the pants are a little long but not too much at all.  He wears 12 months onesies very comfortably.  Don’t you just love those leg rolls though!

And, man alive!  I’m sitting here looking at Jules’ 6 month pictures and they look identical, only Shook’s cheeks are a bit chubbier, if you can even imagine that….

Jules 6 Month2

I mean, she is a little older there but you can definitely see the similarities.  Shook is wearing all her Halloween clothes from last year when she was 9 months old and they fit him perfectly.

He is also rolling EVERYWHERE.  He actually rolled to where he was half on and half off the Nap Nanny today – talk about scary.  Jules never really got into the rolling over so we never had to worry about that with her.  He loves it though.

Jules loves him too.  Today I picked her up first at daycare (even though I’m not technically supposed to) and she came running out yelling “baby, baby, c’mon, c’mon” and doing her hand motion for c’mon.  She took off running/skipping/jumping to his classroom (yelling “Excuse Me” to parents she ran into).  She also yanks his hands out of his mouth all the time and says “baby, no, no, baby”.  It’s pretty funny.  In the car, if he starts fussing, she will say “Shook, shhhhhh, shhhhh”.  She kisses him non-stop and pats his little head.  She is a sweet big sister.

He is eating close to 4 ounces of food twice a day.  I do think he might be a pickier eater than Jules but only time will tell.

Oh! I can’t leave out the best part!  He starting sleeping through the night (I’m jinxing myself right now) but 3 nights out of 5 he has slept from 7:30-6:00, at the very least.  Last night he slept 7:30-7:00.  Sometimes I lay there listening for him to breathe because it is very frightening.

He is just The.Sweetest.Baby.

Boo At The Zoo

Two weekends ago we went to Boo at the Zoo with the Wallace’s.  Jules and Kathryn had a great time.  They were running around everywhere.  Kathryn loves Shook too.  Anytime we see her at school, she says Shook, Shook, Shook constantly until we finally leave.

We ended up staying until it was almost time to close.  I think we may go again this weekend with the Tomlin’s even though we were WORN out after this trip.

We did the boo carousel – glow in the dark and spinning backward.  We did the Hayride and we did just a little trick or treating (it was really too crowded).  Oh, and of course, we got down with our bad selves on the dance floor (well, Jules did anyway…she especially liked one rap song in particular).   Here’s some pictures I took, too cute!

Trip to Wynne

This weekend Jules and I went to Wynne to see Honey and Great Granny. We had a family reunion on my dads side to attend and they were doing something special for my mom since she and dad put on all the family reunions in the past. Shook and Michael stayed home. It was my first time away from him and I missed him so much. He got his second tooth while I was gone! Here are some pictures from this weekend. Jules had her first taste of chocolate gravy and she LOVED it! She played a little piano (with her fingers and her toes)! She also had a great time playing with her baby and putting her to bed. Oh! And she says I Love You all the time now - so sweet!

Here is Shook's new tooth!

Pumpkin Patch

Michael and I love pumpkins!  Michael loves to eat all things pumpkin…me, not so much.  But, one of our favorite things from our wedding was the pumpkin gelato we served in mini carved out pumpkins – super cute for Halloween weekend.  Then, last year we took Jules to her first pumpkin patch and got a picture of here with all the pumpkins in the background and it is one of our favorites – up on the picture wall.  So, of course, this is going to be a yearly thing for us.  We’d go more than once if we could fit it in!

Last Sunday we visited Old Baker Farm with the Wallace’s.  We had a great time!  We ended up staying a long time and the girls had a lot of fun.  Jules had not napped all day except for the 30 minutes it took to get there so it took here a long time to wake up.  I think her favorite was the horse.  We didn’t ride the real horse for fear that she would be scared to death but she really liked looking at them.  We found a horse swing made of old tires and she liked that pretty well as a substitute.  These girls together are just too much!  They were saying goose, gobble gobble, pumpkin, and acting like donkeys (Jules has been saying “EEEHH AWWW” in the car all week) by the time we left.  I love them holding hands and you should see them dance….talk about getting down!

Houston….we have a tooth!

Shook got his first tooth today!  The bottom left one.  He is pretty young to be getting teeth but, let me tell you, he did not fuss one bit.  He did sleep better the one night I gave him some Tylenol and he has had both hands in his mouth every minute of every day.

Such a contrast from his sister….she got her first two-year molar this month.  The bottom left one too.  You would have thought the world was coming to an end.  She barely slept and, when she did, it was in our room.  She was super cranky!

We had a showing of our house so we had to find something to do for 2 hours.  We decided to go to Toys-R-Us to get some ideas for Christmas and Birthday, go to lunch and to the park.  Toys-R-Us was fun.  Jules could care less about toys but she finally threw a fit when she saw the peanut M&Ms and couldn’t have any…I’m not sure exactly what that says about us!  Lunch went pretty well too considering we have successfully avoided eating out with the kids for a long time.

Here are some really good pictures of Shook I took at the park today. I used my new lens recommended by a friend – it is great!

4-Months

I finally got to take Shook to the doctor for his 4 Month check up today.  I have cancelled it twice now because I was sick both times.  We talked about a lot of things with Dr. McCain today and we got some shots.  Here are his stats:

Weight – 18 lbs. 13 oz. 95+ percentile

Length – 26 inches 95+ percentile

Head Circumference – 18 inches 100+ percentile

Basically, his head is bigger than the rest of his body (blame his dad Smile).  And, one side of his head is bigger than the other so we have to keep our eyes out for all of that in the months to come.  He also still has reflux and it is affecting his sitting up, etc. because he spits up so much when he is a little hunched over.  She suggested we switch to a formula with rice in it already and that feed him more real food – 2 ounces twice per day instead of 1 ounce.

He is still my precious little smiley boy.  Here is his 4-Month picture:

I Love You

I love my family so much. They surround the bad parts of my day and make them bearable. Let's be honest, my year has not been exceptionally great, but there is one thing that can get me through a bad day, including anything thrown at me at work, and that is my family.

Who wouldn't love these guys?
