Meet the Deckers

Meet the Deckers
We are a blessed family! It started out 3 years ago with the addition of Memphis, our crazy Labradoodle. Then, we added Jules in January 2010. Next, our little man made his appearance in May 2011. What fun times are ahead for us!

What's Happening

We had parent orientation at school a week or so ago.  I talked with Jules' teachers about her progress with handwriting, etc. and we talked about getting her involved in some extracurricular activities because every time I ask her if she wants to join something, she says, "No, I want to stay in my classroom.".  So, we did some test runs to see how she would like it - she did music and dance.  She loves both!  But, she still says every week for dance that she doesn't want to go.  Then, we get to school and she does want to go so we have to change clothes, etc.  It's kind of funny but she is showing us her skills at home and they say she is a dream student!

Shook's teachers were wondering about our potty progress at home, which is nonexistent.  I told them I would try a little harder but honestly every time I have tried, he is just not willing to even sit on the potty so I know he is not ready.  But, I also told them I would bring in some marshmellows or a treat for him to get if he sits on the potty there.  Apparently, he loves that!  And, he actually has gone pee pee on the potty once (at school, not at home!)!  I'm telling you --- he doesn't even care...Jules tries to get him to go and I got him a vroom vroom potty but he couldn't care less!

They also said that he is really big buddies with a kid named Jason.  They hide in the corner behind the kitchen and talk to each other all day long.  Occasionally, they will invite other kids to come back there with them.  The only thing is --- we walked into his room the other day and only he and Jason were left and Jules said, "That kid is mean to Shookie...he pushes him down on the playground."  (She tells it like it is!)  So, the teacher was like, "She's right.  We are working on it with him and we really try to encourage Shook to make other friends."  Perfect!

They also said that Jules and Shook go outside at the same time but they are separated by a fence.  But, they find each other and sometimes they sit on each side of the fence and just talk to each other or pass stuff back and forth.  And, they always kiss each other goodbye through the fence.  Is that not the sweetest thing you have ever heard?  It really makes me happy!

They were red fish, blue fish for Dr. Seuss day!  Everyone thought they were too cute!

I got Shook this outfit for Halloween (And dress up because Jules has so much dress up stuff).  He loves it but he takes it on and off more than Jules switches dresses!

His teachers also said that he is very athletic and loves playing ball so they thought he would love school soccer.  He got to go on a demo and he loved it.  I, honestly, was like, is this the same kid who falls down all the time and has a head injury or scraped knee everyday?

They said Shook is the best circle time student they have in the class.  He sits perfectly with his legs crossed and loves it!

Speaking of dress up, Jules got to go to a Princess party at a near-by kids salon.  I thought she would LOVE it.  She did love the dress but not the rest.  She got her hair and nails done but she did not want make-up, besides the fact that she gets in mine ALL THE TIME now, and she did not like the 'runway show'.  Every parent there was shocked because they said she talks their ear off at pick-up and drop-off!  She even said, "I do not want to have my party here!"  But, she looked super cute!

That hair came down after about 5 minutes too.  She has so many girls in her class, I was really shocked and I was really embarrassed that I do not know any of the kids names or parents faces but everyone pretty much knew me and Jules.  I am always really bad with that but honestly, they haven't had a parent/kid social and even at the conferences, I think I was one of three parents that showed up in her class.  Oh well, maybe as the school year goes on, I'll have more opportunities.

Sibling picture day is today!  I can't wait to see if they are as funny as last years!
