Meet the Deckers

Meet the Deckers
We are a blessed family! It started out 3 years ago with the addition of Memphis, our crazy Labradoodle. Then, we added Jules in January 2010. Next, our little man made his appearance in May 2011. What fun times are ahead for us!

Soccer

We've been doing an hour of soccer at a local field each Saturday morning.  Shook does soccer at school too and they said he loves it so we thought he would like it when they played games but turns out that he was too young to play games yet and we had already signed up so we just stayed with it.  Generally speaking, he could care less about learning about soccer.  He likes to kick the ball hard and other than that he does not want to participate.  Jules would not sign up for soccer because "only boys play soccer" but since she goes with us each Saturday, she plays with the little kids.  I would have to say that she is the only kid in Shook's lesson that really does anything.  I think they may have the age groups off!

He might not like it but he looks cute doing it!

The moral is really if he can kick and run without having to do what Coach Mary tells him to do, he is okay with that!

I say running and kicking but he likes to roll around on the ball quite a bit too!

He only stresses if I do it with him...hence my badonkadonk in the picture.

He's decent at Stop Bobs! But he is still not a fan!

Jules was the crocodile who would tell them how many kicks they got to make.  Shook scored!

But that really wore him out!

Notice how Jules loves to do what Coach Mary is doing...

And, Shook likes to pout!

Haha!  I think we might take a little hiatus from soccer until we get big enough to really play and listen!  But, it's been entertaining watching him!

Music!

Just call me a slacker because this is the first time I have logged in to blog in about 3 or more months!  Man, that was a good hiatus!

Well, today was Jules' music recital at school.  She does 1 hour of music class every Friday at school and she loves it.  She gets great reviews on her music sheets every week.

She remembers songs like I do.  It's crazy the songs she will start singing sometimes after she has heard them on the radio.  Once she even started singing the jingle to the morning show of the radio show I listen to.

So, this morning they did some warm-up exercises.  One in particular with long and short notes and waking up their face was super cute.

Then, they did 4 songs.  My favorites were Hard Knock Life where Jules was Molly and Abby was Annie.  Initially they were going to do the whole Annie play but they changed it up.  And, Let it Go, which was the finale and ended with Jules pulling her hair to the side to pretend to be Elsa!

The kid in the corner on sitting on the teacher's lap is Shook's BFF.  Shook isn't in music because we didn't think he was really ready or that yet.  And, to see his BFF during the performance, I would say we were right.  At one point his friend was doing the worm across the floor!  And, in true form, Jules was shaking her finger at him and her head!

And, after every song, Jules and Abby gave each other 'Good Job' hugs.  It was pretty funny and super sweet!
