Meet the Deckers

Meet the Deckers
We are a blessed family! It started out 3 years ago with the addition of Memphis, our crazy Labradoodle. Then, we added Jules in January 2010. Next, our little man made his appearance in May 2011. What fun times are ahead for us!

Too Much Fun

All of our weekends seem to be pretty busy these days (and from the looks of it, for the next few months) but this Saturday was especially insane.  BUT, it was a blast.  Shook did so well too..right up until the end of the day when he was starving!

I don't think I've mentioned here that he is pulling up and loves to walk between me and Michael.  Of course, not on his own but he thinks it is the best.  He also loves push toys now.  He can stay up for a few seconds but then he just chases it around on his knees!  Its pretty funny to watch.

Jules has started singing her ABCs from beginning to end.  It was a shock to me when she busted it out one day.  Now, we all have to take turns singing in the car!  Mostly me and her, she usually tells Michael to stop when he is about to D!  Haha!

So, back to the weekend, we had a last swimming lesson, a birthday party at McWane and a birthday party at the park.  We were tired puppies (And by we, I mean me and Michael)!  Jules could go all day and night without a nap...and usually does.  She might be a little more tired today but I seriously doubt it.  Michael and I talk a lot about people who stay home from doing things because of naps or whose kids sleep till 8 or 9 in the morning.  We aren't bitter or anything (at least outwardly).  We choose to think that we must be in preparation or training for something important that requires one to function at a top rate with zero sleep.  We (I!) could totally win that competition!

I took a ton of pictures today...mostly random.  I was trying to get one for Shook's birthday party invitation but I'm not too hot on any of these.

Of course Jules didn't want to play with her friends at the party but she gave lots of them hugs.

I told you...Jules' friends love "Baby Shook".  We are all getting concerned that his name will permanently be "Baby Shook" to all of them.

Someone was getting a little sleepy but before we left the science center we stopped by the machine that uses some kind of waves to tell you how tall you are...I was 5'9", Michael was 6'1" and Jules was 4'!!!  We are giants!

We headed out to Helena and Joe Tucker park afterward for the next party.  That park is awesome.  Jules was going crazy!  Look at these swings.  I really wanted to swing in these!

Shook gets hugs everytime he turns around!

Shook had some sugar cookie with icing....I'm think his Cookie Monster and Milk birthday theme is very appropriate!

Jules asks to see Tay Tay constantly.  Then, when they see each other you can barely get a picture of them playing together!  I guess the age of actually playing together is coming soon.

Whew!  What a day!

I Ride The Camel

Early Saturday morning we went to the zoo.

Every animal we saw was pretty much asleep.

Until we got to the camel...Jules threw an absolute fit to ride the camel.  She did not want to wait her turn either.  We were behind about 4 people and she threw a fit every time one of them got to get on the camel.  She tried to break line.  It was crazy.  But, then, we got to ride.  Her name is Daisy.

We have seen these pictures and watched the video about 500 times since then.  She wakes up and says, "I ride the camel".  We get home from school and she immediately says, "I ride the camel".  We are going to bed and she says, "I ride the camel".  It's crazy.  Apparently we will be paying $11 this weekend to ride the camel!

Afterward we went to Amelia's Dr. Seuss birthday party.  Jules was pretty tired and that made for a long party!

Afterward, Michael and I went on a date night to Tortugas and to see The Hunger Games!

Fun, Fun, Fun

We have been having a lot of fun lately and we have had a lot of company!  Two weekends ago, the newlyweds, Chris and Courtney came to stay the night with us and Uncle Pat came over for awhile.  This past weekend my brother was here and stayed Saturday and Sunday.  Then, Michael's brother Matthew and his family stopped by on their way to Memphis from Destin.  We've also been swimming, hanging out with friends and going to birthday parties.

I've been missing my nightly opportunities to blog because I've been making Shook's birthday invitations; they are going to be SUPER cute.  I cannot believe that he will be 1 in 2 months!  He is pulling up and finally sleeping through the night. He basically starts crying and whining to go to bed around 7 pm each night and he generally wakes up around 6 am.  This morning I woke up to him staring at us!  CREEPY!

Here are some random pictures from the last few weeks.

This is us at a Chinese restaurant one night when I really wanted some soup.  We get there and there is an 89 year old man (in the background) having a big birthday party.  They were giving us balloons (one of which Jules popped and I was afraid the old people might have heart attacks), hats and blow-outs for the kids.  Shook loved it!

Here is Jules doing a signature move - scooting Shook around the house until she gets tired.

Shook loves to watch mom cook.  This particular day he was being very silly; he thought my cooking was hilarious!

Jules has been learning to take turns on the red tricycle (the one that mom and dad will push her around in) and Shook absolutely loves it.  She makes him get out a lot for her turn but at least she is doing better with the concept.  We've done many circles around (and around and around) our deck this past week!

Shook thinks the horn is quite funny.  He found a way to honk it by himself!

Swimming with Jules this year has been so much fun.  The first week she came, she was squealing and laughing and jumping off the ledge constantly.  The bubble was still on the pool so her squeals were extremely loud.  As her parent, I hadn't really noticed but people in the class kept commenting on how laid back Shook is (it really shows when his sister is nearby!)

This last picture reminds me of those divers in the Olympics, with her legs crossed like that.  We are far from Olympic diving status, in case you couldn't figure that out on your own, but she did jump off head first one time...she came up laughing so that was good!  She is doing really well moving her arms and legs and swimming on her own.  I think by closer to the end of summer we might consider one-on-one lessons (you know, once we are a little bit past the terrible 2 beginning phase!!)

It's fun times around the Decker household...never a dull moment!
